REVIEW TO 'SALVATION LOST' - SALVATION SEQUENCE BOOK #2 - BY PETER F. HAMILTON

UNPAID ADVERTISEMENT {REVIEW}

I received this book as a review copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. A big thank you goes to the publisher Pan Macmillan Australia.

Fight together - or die alone . . .

In the twenty-third century, humanity is enjoying a comparative utopia. Yet life on Earth is about to change, forever. Feriton Kane’s investigative team has discovered the worst threat ever to face mankind – and we’ve almost no time to fight back. The supposedly benign Olyix plan to harvest humanity, in order to carry us to their god at the end of the universe. And as their agents conclude schemes down on earth, vast warships converge above to gather this cargo.

Some factions push for humanity to flee, to live in hiding amongst the stars – although only a chosen few would make it out in time. But others refuse to break before the storm. As disaster looms, animosities must be set aside to focus on just one goal: wiping this enemy from the face of creation. Even if it means preparing for a future this generation will never see.

Here comes another outstanding, beautiful cover that suits the story behind perfectly. And not just that, it also blends in with the cover of book one in this series.

I have to say, that 'Salvation Lost' is just as addicting as book #1 of the Salvation Sequence. Peter's writing style is extremely detailled and absolutely thrilling. Therefore it is not an easy read. The length of this book might also be an indication for this.

The characters are pretty much the same, though I gotta admit that I'm quite fascinated by the author's ability of implementing so many different personalities and character traits without killing the reader's mood.

The only thing I was missing a bit, was a deeper connection between some of the characters but that's just my personal opinion. Otherwise, there's really nothing to winge about. I didn't find any dull or boring scenes at all and got pulled right back into the story.

I also got surprised by some wicked plot twists the author had in store and still can't wrap my head around some of them.

In my opinion 'Salvation Lost' is a great continuation of the Salvation Sequence series. Peter F. Hamilton left enough room for questions to continue these books and I'm definitely curious what will happen next in this story.

I can recommend this book to every Sci-Fi lover out there and really hope you give this story a chance. And please don't be scared of its many pages!
