REVIEW TO 'PROTECT THE PRINCE' BY JENNIFER ESTEP

{UNPAID ADVERTISEMENT - REVIEW}

Pretty, pretty princes,

All in a row.

Who will they marry?

Where will they go?

This girl, that girl,

Maid, lady, queen.

Who snares the princes' hearts

Remains to be seen.

- Andvarian court song

~ 'Protect the Prince' by Jennifer Estep ~

I received this advanced reading copy in exchange for my honest opinion about the book. A big thank you goes to the author Jennifer Estep and the publisher Harper Collins!

Spoiler-Alert: I always try not to spoiler but especially the overview might spoiler you, if you haven't read book #1 in this series!

Everleigh Blair might be the new gladiator queen of Bellona, but her problems are far from over.

First, Evie has to deal with a court full of arrogant, demanding nobles, all of whom want to get their greedy hands on her crown. As if that wasn’t bad enough, an assassin tries to kill Evie in her own throne room.

Despite the dangers, Evie goes ahead with a scheduled trip to the neighboring kingdom of Andvari in order to secure a desperately needed alliance. But complicating matters is the stubborn Andvarian king, who wants to punish Evie for the deaths of his countrymen during the Seven Spire massacre.

Dark forces are also at work inside the Andvarian palace, and Evie soon realizes that no one is safe. Worse, her immunity to magic starts acting in strange, unexpected ways, which makes Evie wonder whether she is truly strong enough to be a Winter Queen.

Evie’s magic, life, and crown aren’t the only things in danger—so is her heart, thanks to Lucas Sullivan, the Andvarian king’s bastard son and Evie’s … well, Evie isn’t quite sure what Sullivan is to her.

Only one thing is certain—protecting a prince might be even harder than killing a queen.

What a beautiful cover, which is perfectly suitable for the continuation of the 'Crown Of Shards' series by Jennifer Estep. I love all the little details on it as well as the stunning colours. I can't wait to see it standing next to book #1 in my bookshelf!

The author Jennifer Estep convinces me again of her great talent as a writer. Her writing style is as unique, thrilling, and detailed as ever. In 'Protect The Prince' you won't come across any boring or dull scenes. The whole book is full of action, drastic turns, and unexpected surprises.

The world building is another absolutely epic aspect of this story. It's fantastic how detailed and well thought through the setting is. I could imagine every corner and dark alley without having to actually think about it. I could barely put the book down and pretty much inhaled it in one day.

I was looking forward to meet the strong and beautiful Evie, the fierce and hot Sullivan, and all their loyal and loving friends again since I finished the first book in the 'Crown Of Shards' series. Even Maven as well as the other assassins who work with her.

The characters in this series are simply amazing. You will mostly come across already known people but you will also get to know a few new faces.

I'm not going into the characters too much this time as you all know, I absolutely love Evie and her friends. If you'd like to know more about my thoughts about the main characters, you can find my review to book #1 here. Just so much: you will never guess why they had to protect the prince as not everything is as it seems at first glimpse.

Well, what can I say!? After not reading for the bigger part of last year, I have inhaled this grand book in not even one day... Jennifer Estep for sure is one of my most favourite authors.

I can absolutely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a great fantasy book with a unique writing style, epic world building, mythic creatures, magic, and so much more to discover. I'm looking forward to get my hands on the audiobook as well as I already loved the voice of Evie in the first book. And as you can imagine, I definitely hope that there'll be the option of ordering a signed copy again because I SO need it!!

Now I'm just looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the story and of course I'm also looking forward to the next book in the series. :)
