Rena Finder was only eleven when the Nazis forced her and other Jewish people into the ghetto in Krakow, Poland, during WWII. Then, Rena and her mother were taken to a work camp. By chance, they found jobs in the factory of a German man named Oskar Schindler. Still, Rena was deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp. It was Schindler and his wife who would ultimately help her escape.

We absolutely love the cover. It is perfect for the story behind and throws you right back to these horrible times. By the way, it's also hiding a gorgeous design under the dust jacket.
The author's writing style is easy to follow and quite suitable to introduce some really bad history to our younger readers. With this book, we went on an emotional roller-coaster. It is full of love and hope, even through those fearful times which were haunted by starvation, slavery, and the loss of family and friends.
Rena Finder is a remarkable woman. A survivor who deserves everyone's respect for being so strong and keeping her pure heart.
We can definitely recommend this book to young readers and adults alike.
