REVIEW TO 'HEAR ME' BY KERRY O'MALLEY CERRA

ADVERTISEMENT {REVIEW}

I received this book as a review copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

A sensitive and authentic portrayal of a girl experiencing progressive hearing loss, written by an author with progressive hearing loss

One year after being diagnosed with hearing loss, Rayne's hearing keeps getting worse, even with aids. It's a struggle to maintain friendships and keep up in school, surfing is now a wipeout, and she can't understand her favorite singer's lyrics. But worst of all, Rayne's parents are pushing for her to get cochlear implants, a surgery Rayne's not convinced is worth the risks and challenges.

Rayne begs her parents to consider other options, but they're not budging. With the surgery looming, Rayne sets off on a bus journey in search of alternatives―and discovers that even though her ears may be broken, she is not.

The cover of Hear Me by Kerry O'Malley Cerra is cute and reflects the overall vibe of the story well.

The author’s writing style has been utterly pleasant and I have been captured with the first pages of this wonderful story.

With her choice of words she makes the reader not just read about but feel that loss of Rayne’s hearing.

Kerry O’Malley Cerra has created a deeply powerful, touching and also infuriating read that gets the reader to really put themselves into the character’s shoes, especially on a mental level.

I can highly recommend this beautiful book to everyone. Make sure to add this one to your tbr.
