Belle is a lot of things: smart, resourceful, restless. She longs to escape her poor provincial town for good. She wants to explore the world, despite her fathers reluctance to leave their little cottage in case Belles mother returns a mother she barely remembers. Belle also happens to be the captive of a terrifying, angry beast. And that is her primary concern. But when Belle touches the Beasts enchanted rose, intriguing images flood her mind images of the mother she believed she would never see again. Stranger still, she sees that her mother is none other than the beautiful Enchantress who cursed the Beast, his castle, and all its inhabitants. Shocked and confused, Belle and the Beast must work together to unravel a dark mystery about their families that is twenty-one years in the making.

Little Miss C just finished ᴀꜱ ᴏʟᴅ ᴀꜱ ᴛɪᴍᴇ by Liz Braswell as Beauty and the Beast is her absolute all-time-favourite when it comes to fairytales.
The cover is simply beautiful. It suits the story well and blends in perfectly with the other books in the ᴅɪꜱɴᴇʏ - ᴀ ᴛᴡɪꜱᴛᴇᴅ ᴛᴀʟᴇ collection. There are also quite a few hidden details in the cover design, which we found really intriguing.
Liz Braswell's writing style has been a blast in this book. C described the story as magical, thrilling, and emotional. The first part of the book felt a bit like a prequel to the main story. This first part goes into depth of the backstory of the well-known characters and this was actually the part of the book Little Miss C enjoyed the most. Also, the twist to the original story has been very well worked through.
When reading this book, you'll come across many beloved characters from the original story. Yet you'll also meet new faces, friends and foe alike. Unfortunately, there has been a bit too little of Gaston for C's liking.
All summed up, Little Miss C loved ᴀꜱ ᴏʟᴅ ᴀꜱ ᴛɪᴍᴇ. It's an action-filled, heartstopping story that features beloved characters and a magical setting. C definitely recommends this book and sees it as a reading highlight.
