AUGUST 2020 FAIRYLOOT UNBOXING

Not long ago, my August 2020 subscription box from FairyLoot arrived. The August theme has been 'Let the games begin' and I've been really curious about its content. FairyLoot has promised exciting merch to some awesome fandoms like An Ember In The Ashes, Hunting Prince Dracula, Nevernight, Scythe, Aurora Rising, and Harry Potter. The lovely FairyLoot team also already announced that a booksleeve with art from the very talented Monolime Art will be included in this box.

First of all, look at this absolutely stunning bookmark. I'm such a sucker for the FairyLoot bookmarks with the monthly theme. They're always so beautiful! Of course, the monthly art is also on the back of the spoiler card.

Then there has of course been a stunning book inside this book. This month's featured book has been Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar and I can't even begin to describe how much I love this edition! It is signed by the author and came with shimmery sprayed, golden edges, as well as stunning art on the reverse dust jacket, and the typical author letter. I love it!!

Blurb:

The daughter of a star and a mortal, Sheetal is used to keeping secrets. Pretending to be “normal.” But when an accidental flare of her starfire puts her human father in the hospital, Sheetal needs a full star’s help to heal him. A star like her mother, who returned to the sky long ago.

Sheetal’s quest to save her father will take her to a celestial court of shining wonders and dark shadows, where she must take the stage as her family’s champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of the heavens - and win, or risk never returning to Earth at all.

The included metal bookmark, which has been inspired by Mia Corvere and Mr. Kindly from Nevernight, is one of my highlights from this box for sure. I love the delicate design and it will most definitely be used a lot from now on.

The included Aurora Rising inspired pin is quite cute. Though since I haven't read this series yet, I might just pass it on to my little book raccoon DJ. After all, he is a massive Jay Kristoff and Amy Kaufman fan and is actually currently reading Aurora Rising.

My absolute highlight from the August box has been this beautiful booksleeve, designed by Monolime Art. It is inspired by An Ember In The Ashes and has two character art prints on the front and back of the sleeve (You'll see a part of the other side further down). It's design is in typical Monolime Art fashion and I have to say it's a total stunner! Also, the quality is simply amazing and I'll definitely be using it and showing it off in my pictures.

Next, there has been this Stalking Jack The Ripper inspired Hardcover notebook. Since I'm a big notebook lover, I think this item has been a great addition and it's definitely very useful for me.

There has also been a Scythe inspired magnet included. It is okay-ish but definitely my least favourite item from this box.

And last but not least, there are the typical FairyLoot tarot cards. This time, they have been inspired by Jay Kristoff's Nevernight and show Mia Corvere and Mr. Kindly (who is definitely my favourite).

All summed up:

My absolute highlight has been the beautiful booksleeve with the character art on both sides. Closely followed by the stunning metal Nevernight bookmark, as well as the gorgeous notebook.

I'm not a huge fan of the Scythe magnet, as its design is very simple and just doesn't jump at me. And even though I don't really needed the Aurora Rising pin and the golden bath bomb (bath egg?), I can pass these on to my little raccoons since DJ is a massive Jay Kristoff fan and little Miss C loves bath bombs.

In conclusion, I've been quite impressed with FairyLoot's August 2020 'Let The Games Begin' box. I loved most of the included items and will definitely use them all.
